Collection Description (CRHP): The Rhode Island Historical Society has coverage of WJAR-TV (Television station: Providence, R.I.) of civil rights developments from 1956 to 1980 as well as two United Press Movietone News films on civil rights and a film by Oren Jacoby on civil rights. These videorecordings cover a wide range of topics, including school desegregation; local, regional, and national movements for civil rights; and an interview of Frances Dancy Hooks (wife of NAACP executive secretary Benjamin L. Hooks) that deals with African American women and feminism.
