Repository description (extant): The Cal Maritime Library is one of the few maritime research libraries in the world. The library's professionals work to ensure that students graduate with an advanced understanding of information and solid independent learning skills.

The library holds over 35,000 books and over 270 magazine and journal titles. It also provides over 12,000 online magazine and journal titles as well as several thousand e-books. The library makes heavy use of state-of-the-art computing technology. Books and articles not available in the library can be delivered to campus from virtually any library in the country within a week or so. Students, faculty, and staff have access to all online library resources from any computer on campus.
