Repository description (extant): The Anacostia Community Museum collects artifacts, works of art, photographs, documents and paper records, audio-visual media, and other material that help us understand how communities work. Collections development efforts will focus on materials that document the history and community life of the East of the River neighborhoods, and that support research activities in this area. ACM collections also support the museum's investigation of contemporary community life, and of issues and themes that shape and resonate within urban communities.
