Repository description (extant): The Howard Baker Center, in cooperation with the University of Tennessee Libraries, has created a vibrant, and innovative research center called the Modern Political Archives (MPA). The MPA contains materials of political leaders of Tennessee, major associates of those leaders, and other individuals or groups who have had a major impact on Tennessee during the modern era. Currently the MPA includes more than 200 collections including U.S. Senators Howard H. Baker, Jr., Estes Kefauver, Fred Dalton Thompson, and William Emerson Brock III; Governors Donald Sundquist, and Winfield Dunn; United States Congressmen John J. Duncan Sr., and Howard H. Baker Sr.; United States Congresswoman Irene Baker; and state senator Ben Atchley.
