Ethnographic Resources related to Folklore, Anthropology, Ethnomusicology, and the Humanities

This page has been replaced by the Folklife Sourcebook database. Search the database for ethnographic resources of all types in the US and around the world. Below are suggestions for database searches for the types of organizations and internet resources formerly listed on this page.

General Sources | Directories | Scholarly Programs | Archives and Museums | Online Presentations of Archival Collections | Grants and Awards | Journals and Newsletters | Societies | Educator's Resources | Ethnomusicology and Folksong Resources | Fieldwork | Indigenous People's Resources | Mythology and Narrative

General Sources

Search the Folklife Sourcebook database. Using the keyword option, search for broad terms such as "folklore," "folklife," "ethnography," "anthropology," or "ethnomusicology."

Directories

Search the Folklife Sourcebook database using the drop-down subject menu for "Directories and Web Resources"

Scholarly Programs

Search the Folklife Sourcebook database using the drop-down subject menu for "Higher Education Programs"

Scholarly Societies and Organizations

Search the Folklife Sourcebook database using the drop-down subject menu for "Societies," or use the keyword option to search for "societies" and another keyword, such as the name of a country, state, or province (spelled out) and/or a subject such as "folklore" or "dance."

Archives, Museums, and Libraries

Search the Folklife Sourcebook database using the drop-down subject menu for "Archives, Museums, and Libraries."

Online Presentations of Archival Collections

Search the Folklife Sourcebook database. Using the keyword option, search for "online exhibits" or "online presentations." Online presentations are not listed separately in the Folklife Sourcebook, but information about the organizations listed includes mention of online exhibits present on the website when the website was last reviewed.

Grants and Awards

Search the Folklife Sourcebook database. Using the keyword option, search for "grants."

Journals and Newsletters

Search the Folklife Sourcebook database. Using the keyword option, search for "journals," or "publishers," or these terms plus a term for the subject matter or a word from the title. Journals and Newsletters are included with organizations that publish them, rather than separately by title. So they will be included in records for societies, archives, research groups, and publishers.

Special Topics
