-  A rhythmical Cuban song composed by Dr. Matilde R. Cruz Planas in Havana, Cuba. The singer, Benildes Remond Isern, was then a schoolteacher and later, under the married name Benildes Remond Sanchez, director of the San Carlos Institute for twenty-five years. The San Carlos Institute in Key West was a grammar school owned and operated by the Cuban government, with classes taught in both English and Spanish.
