-  William Augustine Newland (1813-1901), Philadelphia organist, choirmaster, conductor, and music teacher. Charles Zeuner (1795-1857), student of Johann Nepomuk Hummel, settled in Boston in the 1820s and became well-known as an organist and composer.
-  Many of the original 2000 or more items from the collection are cataloged and classified in the Music Division's general collection.
-  The collection was purchased in 1929.
