Efrem Zimbalist

Efrem Zimbalist (1889–1985) was a Russian-born violin virtuoso and prolific composer. He came to America in 1911 after a successful early concert career in Europe. He began a lengthy association with Victor Records that same year. Zimbalist often recorded arranged songs and excerpts rather than works from the standard violin repertoire. In addition to many solo recordings, he recorded duets with violinist Fritz Kreisler and with his wife, soprano Alma Gluck.
