Walter B. Rogers
Walter B. Rogers (1865–1939) was an American cornet virtuoso and conductor. He played several seasons as cornet soloist with the bands of both Sousa and Arthur Pryor. He recorded often as a soloist for Victor Records during its early years and as a conductor between 1903 and 1916. He was Victor's house orchestra conductor—taking over that post from Arthur Pryor—beginning in 1906. In addition to conducting the sides issued as "Victor Orchestra," he also directed accompaniments for many Red Seal sessions of Caruso and other opera singers. After leaving Victor in 1916, Rogers became associated with other recording companies, including Par-O-Ket, Paramount, and Brunswick.
