Eddie Morton (1870–1938) was known in show business circles as "The Singing Cop" because of his early career as a policeman. As a comic baritone, he won notice in vaudeville and made many successful recordings for Victor, Columbia, Edison, and other labels. His gruff voice and wry delivery make him easily recognizable.
