Taiwan: Active Military Service Period Shortened

(Jan. 26, 2009) On December 30, 2008, Taiwan's Military Service Law was amended. The Law now stipulates that the period of active military service for regular recruits will be one year. Formerly, it was one year and ten months (art. 16, para. 1, item 1).
