Lifelong Literacy Storybook Area’s Children’s Privacy PolicyThe Library of Congress strives to offer a safe online environment for children. Personally identifiable information is never required to use the Library’s Lifelong Literacy Storybook area. For children to send an e-card to a friend, however, we do require children to provide their email address and the recipient’s email address in order to send the e-card. Additionally, we ask children for their first name in order to let the recipient know the first name of the individual who sent the e-card. All of this information is deleted on our servers as soon as practical. Additionally, when children send an e-card, they are also submitting their e-card to the Library for possible inclusion in the online gallery feature of the Lifelong Literacy Storybook area. No personally identifiable information is disclosed through a posting on the online gallery and no personally identifiable information is retained. The Lifelong Literacy Storybook area does not use any persistent cookies, which are cookies that sometimes are placed on your hard drive by web sites in order to store and collect various types of information. |
