Kluge Center Symposium Studies U.S. Role in World Affairs

The John W. Kluge Center at the Library of Congress presented a symposium titled "Statecraft and America's Position in the World" on March 4.

Panelists Zbigniew Brzezinski, Klaus Larres and Brent Scowcroft

Organized and moderated by Klaus W. Larres, professor of international relations and foreign policy at the University of London and former holder of the Henry Alfred Kissinger Chair in Foreign Policy and International Relations in the Kluge Center, the symposium considered America's global role from the Cold War to the present time.

The panelists included Zbigniew Brzezinski, national security adviser during the Carter administration; Brent Scowcroft, national security adviser during the Ford and Bush administrations; and Richard Holbrooke, assistant secretary of state in the Carter and Clinton administrations.

The symposium was videotaped and will be available on the Library's Web site at www.loc.gov.
