Two Decades of Achievement
Library Marks Milestones with Billington at the Helm

Previous | Next

Dr. Billington with two Kluge Prize awardees.

Outreach to the philanthropic community through the James Madison Council culminated in the establishment of the John W. Kluge Center and its Kluge Prize for lifetime achievement in the study of humanity. Billington is pictured here with 2006 recipients Yu Ying-shih, left, and John Hope Franklin. The prize and the center help fulfill the Librarian’s goal of celebrating scholarship at the Library. - John Harrington
