Lester Horton (1906-1953), dancer, teacher and choreographer, is generally acknowledged to be among the founders of American modern dance. His dance company included well-known performers such as Bella Lewitzky, Carmen de Lavallade, Alvin Ailey and James Truitte. This exhibition of photographs, publicity and performance shots of his original choreographies or of reconstructions mounted after his death is on view at the Performing Arts Library of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts through April 5. Hours are Tuesday-Saturday noon to 8 p.m.
