Musician Joins Folklife Center Board

Sen. Patrick Lahy, Mickey Hart, and Sen. Harry Reid

Mickey Hart of the musical group Grateful Dead has been appointed to the board of the American Folklife Center in the Library of Congress. Last June he took a break during his first board meeting to meet with Sen. Patrick J. Lahy (D-Vt.) (left) and Sen. Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.). The group then met with Sen. Thomas Daschle (D-S.D.), minority leader of the Senate, where Mr. Hart urged the senators to support the Library's efforts to preserve "endangered music" on archival audiotape.
