Narrative regarding Nelson's time in the British West Indies (1784-1787) and his efforts to enforce the British Navigation Acts which required that imports to England and her colonies had to be in English ships. It begins with his arrival in Barbados in June 1784 and finding the bay "full of Americans."
Contains logs of the ships Merlin (1797 June 18-1800 Apr. 23); Resolution (1800 Nov. 9 -1803 Aug. 15); and, laid in at the back of the volume, the Sir Edward Hamilton (1804 Jan. 3-1805 Sept. 3). Logs largely record travel between London and the West Indies.
