INPUT CONVENTIONS

Capitalization - All codes are recorded in lowercase alphabetic characters.
Order of codes - When a continuing resource which is authenticated by an ISSN Center moves its place of publication to another country, responsibility for ISSN Network data elements is assumed by the ISSN Network center in the new country of publication. The authentication code for the current authenticating agency is added to field 042.

LC, NSDP, LAC, ISSN Canada, or the ISSN UK Centre may consider the item to be a continuing resource, while one of the others may not. Consequently, the field could contain one code beginning with an "x" and one code not beginning with an "x."
