Inconvenient Truth: The Crisis of Global Warming         BR 17616

Discusses the climate crisis and explains changes occurring in Earth's
weather, temperatures, and water levels. Examines the impact of
global warming, greenhouse gases, and technology's side effects on
hurricanes, polar caps, and the spread of disease. Calls for scientific

Close to the Wind: The Beaufort Scale         BR 18003

1805. A midshipman aboard a man-of-war describes the ship's passage
under wind conditions from becalmed in Naples (Beaufort 0) to
hurricane force in the Caribbean (Beaufort 12). Provides a biographical
sketch of Francis Beaufort (1774-1857), inventor of the scale, and
