Eleven Arkansas Centenarians Inducted into 102
On January 26, 2005, eleven Arkansas centenarians became the latest inductees into the 102 Talking-Book Club.

The Arkansas State Library's Regional Library for the Blind officially launched its state chapter of the national program with a catered reception for two charter members, Mrs. Murphy Keathley and Mr. Merle Nesbit. Mr. Nesbit was unable to attend, but will receive his plaque at a later date. Mrs. Keathley, who will be 102 in June, has a wide range of reading interests including family stories, historical novels, mysteries, and travel. In the three years she has been in the Talking-Book program she has read more than 200 books.
The 102 recognition program was attended by approximately 35 invited guests. Among them were the Arkansas Deputy Director of Human Services' Services for the Blind, the Director of Lion's World Services for the Blind, the Director and Deputy Director of the Arkansas Division on Aging, the Director of the Arkansas State Library, a representative from U.S. Congressman Vic Snyder's office, and the President of the Arkansas Chapter of the American Council of the Blind. Media coverage was provided by Channel 4 and Aging Arkansas magazine.
Deputy Director of the National Library Service (NLS) for the Blind and Physically Handicapped Michael Moodie presented Mrs. Murphy Keathley with an engraved plaque and a pin. He also read Mrs. Keathley a welcome letter from NLS Director Frank Kurt Cylke.
