NLS: That All May Read

Catalogs: For Younger Readers, 2010-2011

This catalog lists audio and braille books for younger readers produced during 2010 and 2011. Digital talking books, available on cartridges, are labeled with the prefix DB. Most books fit on one cartridge. Cassette books are labeled with the prefix RC and play at 15/16 ips. One cassette holds up to six hours of play, so one book may contain multiple cassettes. Since a title that is available as both a digital book and a recorded cassette has the same book number, the prefix DB/RC is used with the book number.

Some digital books listed may be available only for download on the NLS Braille and Audio Reading Download (BARD) website. Others listed with an RC prefix may not have actually been produced on cassette. If you have questions about obtaining one of these books in a specific format, please contact your cooperating library.

Titles are listed under nonfiction and fiction headings and divided into categories alphabetically and then by media. Some books appear in more than one subject category. For instance, science fiction short stories may appear in “Science Fiction” and in “Short Stories.”

Separate sections list books in print/braille and uncontracted braille and books for very young readers and for young adults. These are followed by books in Spanish and by separate title and author indexes.
