Digital Talking Book Machine (DTBM) Operation: Becoming Familiar with the Player

How do I explain safety instructions to the patron?

Patrons need to know how to use their players safely. The chart below summarizes the most important safety instructions and suggests points to emphasize when talking to patrons. See the complete Important Safety Instructions which come with the player in the Training Tools section below.

Safety Instructions Points to Emphasize when Talking to Patrons
Do not use the player around water or in high-moisture environments.
Clean the player with a dry cloth or cloth dampened with a diluted (not full strength) mild detergent cleaning solution. Unplug the player before cleaning. Plain water will remove most dirt from the player.
Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched. Tuck unused portions of the power cord into the back of the player. Walking with the cord dangling is a serious potential hazard. Make sure patrons know how to tuck the power cord into the storage area at the back of the player.
Always place the player on a stable, horizontal, flat, dry surface and keep the nonskid feet clean.
Do not open the player! Do not open the player!
Do not insert foreign objects into the player.
If any buttons are damaged, do not use the player. Return damaged player for service and request a replacement.
Do not cover the player with a blanket or clothing while the player is connected to AC power.
