Rewind and Fast-Forward buttons Primary function: The Rewind (RW)/Fast-Forward (FF) buttons are the principal means of book navigation for the standard player. The behavior of these buttons is the same on both players, however, users of the advanced player have other controls to perform navigation.
The RW button operates as follows:

| 2 seconds | 20 seconds |
| 4 seconds | 1 minute |
| 7 seconds | 5 minutes |
| 10 seconds | 15 minutes |
| Until a chapter boundary is crossed: | |
| 13 seconds | 30 minutes |
| 16 seconds | 1 hour |
| 19 seconds | 2 hours |
| Each 3 seconds | +1 hour |
| Until a chapter boundary is crossed: | |
| Each 2 seconds | 1 chapter |
The FF button operates as follows:
