Digital Talking Book Machine (DTBM) Inspection and Maintenance: Player Troubleshooting
How do I troubleshoot audio announcements for “System Error”?
“System Error” announcements indicate a writing problem related to the internal flash memory during a software upgrade.
When troubleshooting “System Error” announcements listen for audio announcement five. One of two messages will be heard: “System OK” or “System Error.”
- “System OK”: This indicates that the player has not recorded any error codes related to the RAM or flash memory.
- “System Error”: This indicates that the player has detected an internal error. This error is generated if a player runs out of memory or when an error writing to the flash memory has been detected during a software upgrade.
- Troubleshoot the error message. Exit the library diagnostic level.
- If the player does not function correctly and this error is persistent, the player should be sent for repair.
