Digital Talking-Book Duplication and Labeling

Overview

Duplication and labeling are separate activities. This training module describes duplication of one NLS digital talking book (DB) to an NLS cartridge acquired by a network library. It is designed to use the NLS Braille and Audio Reading Download (BARD) web site to download digital books that are not in the library’s collection. “How do I” questions are linked to explanations and guidance.

This training module does not cover copying a DB to a USB flash drive.  Directions for downloading multiple books to a single cartridge are also not included.

Digital Talking-Book Duplication identifies sources for acquiring hardware, software, and supplies and provides directions for write protecting cartridges, unzipping digital files, copying single or multiple digital talking books and preparing cartridges for reuse.

Digital Talking-Book Labeling identifies sources for acquiring hardware, software, and blank label stock and provides directions for creating cartridge and container labels.
