<ul>
<li>- The verbs <em>am</em>, <em>is</em>, <em>are</em>, <em>was</em>, and <em>were</em> are forms of the verb <em>be</em>. They do not show action. They tell what someone or something is or was.</li>

<li>- <em>Am</em>, <em>is</em>, and <em>are</em> show present time. <em>Was</em> and <em>were</em> show past time.</li>
