The STEREO US GEOG series has ca. 9,000 views of places, scenes, structures, and people in the United States. Heavily represented states include California, Colorado, New York, and Pennsylvania. The file also has significant documentation for the cities of Boston, Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. The STEREO SUBJ series has 3,500 documentary and topical stereographs, including sentimental and staged scenes. Categories with many stereographs are African Americans, animals, children, hunting, Indians of North America, industry, ships (including liners and naval vessels), and sports. The STEREO BIOG series has about 500 portraits and other pictures relating to the lives, careers, and families of distinguished or notable persons, including homes and birthplaces. People represented in numerous stereographs include William Jennings Bryan, Admiral George Dewey, Alton Parker, Cecil Rhodes, and Booker T. Washington. The STEREO PRES series has ca. 1,500 portraits and other pictures relating to the lives, careers, and families of U.S. presidents including home and birthplaces. The presidencies of Warren G. Harding, William McKinley, and Theodore Roosevelt are most heavily represented, but stereographs related to Thomas Jefferson through Harry S Truman are available.

Yes, the item is digitized. Please use the digital image in preference to requesting the original. All images can be viewed at a large size when you are in any reading room at the Library of Congress. In some cases, only thumbnail (small) images are available when you are outside the Library of Congress because the item is rights restricted or has not been evaluated for rights restrictions.
As a preservation measure, we generally do not serve an original item when a digital image is available. If you have a compelling reason to see the original, consult with a reference librarian. (Sometimes, the original is simply too fragile to serve. For example, glass and film photographic negatives are particularly subject to damage. They are also easier to see online where they are presented as positive images.)
