In a letter, dated January 16, 1968, Becker wrote to Ben Goldstein, "I was on the art staff in 1914 & 1915. It shows the spirit of Washington rearing up behind Uncle Sam and pointing the other way. Sam is headed toward the coming years of fire & smoke. The title, "Beware of entangling alliances." |
