Secretary of Agriculture presents Meyer medal to veteran government plant explorer. Washington, D.C., July 24. Secretary of Agriculture Henry A. Wallace, right, presenting the Meyer Medal for distinguished services in plant introduction to David Fairchild, Veteran Plant Explorer of the United States Department of Agriculture. The Secretary made the award on behalf of the American Genetic Association, the Trustees of the Medal. Following the presentation, Secretary Wallace out-lined the distinguished services of Dr. Fairchild during his 50 year's association with the department of Agriculture.
