Never risk a great loss in exchange for a small gain!

While risk management and insurance are closely related, and even considered synonymous in some organizations, insurance alone is not risk management. Risk management is far broader. While it does encompass insurance, risk management also deals with the concepts of avoiding, preventing, and minimizing loss. In addition, risk management addresses methods other than insurance for transferring the financial consequences of losses that do occur. Risk and insurance management apply to all libraries, from the smallest to the largest.
