Your letter announcing the decision to postpone the Graham performance reached me while I was up to my neck in notes for The North Star. I'll be out of the woods in another week or so, and can then turn to the ballet score with a free mind. So the postponement is something of a god-send as far as I am concerned. Also I plan to be back in New York by October first, so can keep in close touch with Martha Graham, which ought to produce better results than long distance correspondence.
I have about a third of the work completed so far. I am going on the assumption that the scoring for double string quartet and piano will be satisfactory.
All best wishes - and I hope to see you during the course of the winter.
