Dear Mr. Carty —
I am greatly touched by your letter of August 28 and your appreciation of my husband and thank you very much for letting me know of it.
It was a most wonderful tribute, beautifully worded, that you paid Mr. Bell that evening. The perfect thing is that you gave it yourself to Mr. Bell.
He was very greatly pleased and touched and went from this life content with the knowledge that he was loved by his fellowmen. He wanted nothing more but the opportunity still further to serve them and his last conscious words were of the work he hoped his associate, Mr. Baldwin, would carry on for him.
Yours very gratefully,
/s/ MABEL G. BELL
