In a paper read before the late woman suffrage meeting in Canandaigua by Miss Miller, of Geneva, the following cogent reason for extending the franchise to women was presented, from the pen of Mrs. Elizabeth Cady Stanton:

It is not only the right but the duty of then and women to give their best en cteavors and thoughts to the welfare of all the people. To choose wise rulers, to demand equal laws, and to maintain a high standard of pubic virtue. Let the morals of the fireside permeate the halls of legislation, the courts of justice and the marts of trade. Fathers have dnties in the home as well as in the state.
