The Library of Congress offers a wide range of services and research
opportunities to Africanists coming to Washington, DC or visiting electronically.
Topics for DC visitors include how to plan your research time at the
Library before you arrive, opportunities for internships and fellowships,
and special facilities for scholars. For both electronic and in-person
patrons, topics include overviews of the Africana collections (the
largest in the world); tips for using the Library’s online catalog
more effectively; identifying and requesting materials; arranging individual
or class briefings; identifying databases available and more.

Participants wishing advice on specific research topics may submit them by November 1, 2005 to Ms. Zellers
Limited space is available, please register now for briefings in Sessions I and II, by sending your name, affiliation, email address, telephone number, and the date, time and name of the briefing, to Laverne Page Area Specialist, African Section, African and Middle Eastern Division. You may select more than one briefing. Registration is taken in the order of receipt. Please note that seating capacity is limited to a maximum of 20 participants for each briefing conducted by the Digital Reference Team and a maximum of 14 participants for all other briefings
