Salary and Compensation Research at the Library of Congress

Geographical

Many compensation surveys include information that allows users to find data for specific geographic breakdowns. Often the data is presented by states or even by larger geographical regions; however each publisher may handle the geographic data differently.

For example, in the past, Watson Wyatt (currently TowersWatson) had a survey for an industry or job type presented by position or job and a companion volume, which recieved a diferent call number at the Library of Congress, that presented the data using their geographic classifications. Those researchers doing current research need only one volume or set.  However, if they are doing historical research they will need both the survey data and the companion volume for that survey for the geographic data found in different set.

• National Compensation Survey - Wages

  Provides data on occupational wages for localities, broad geographic regions, and the nation. For 1992-1996 it was called Occupational Compensation Survey
