Event on January 27 at 10am: Breathing New Life into Out-of-Print Children’s Books Subject of Special Event. Four rare children’s books from the Library of Congress collections will be displayed and unveiled in an all-new electronic format in the Young Readers Center..

 

The Children's Literature Center assists users in gaining access to all children's materials dispersed throughout the Library. The Library holds approximately 500,000 children's books and related items, such as boxed and board games, sound recordings, maps, and illustrations.

Hours:
Monday-Saturday, 8:30am to 4:30pm. From 4:30pm-9:00pm on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday . Closed Federal Holidays. Cards are issued in the Main Reading Room (LJ100).

Inquiries can be made in person, by letter, phone, or online at Ask a Librarian. Researchers needing assistance are encouraged to make an appointment before their visit.  For group visits and book presentations, please call at (202) 707-5535. In the Center's Reading Room, a children's literature specialist offers research assistance, locates materials, and orients researchers to the Library's extensive resources. The Center houses a reference and a showcase collection of illustrated children's books, including the world’s smallest children’s book.
