Part of note reads, "Rattan is a plentiful Island abounding with wild Hogs, Deer, Indian Coneys, wild Fowl, & quantities of Turtle, Fish, &c....On this Island grows very good Oak, & likewise Pine trees of sufficient bigness to make Masts & Yards for Merchant Ship, &c. The South side is very convenient for Shipping, having many fine Harbours..."
