Example of a portion of a water system

In many editions of fire insurance
atlases of large towns or cities, there was a separate map, frequently
an inset but sometimes rather substantial in size, showing the
water distribution system. Such a map might be accompanied by a
description of pumping station equipment, pressure, sizes of mains
and water lines, the types and distribution of fire hydrants, and
so forth.
