Library of Congress Reading Room Hours

Note to researchers: Please be sure to check the hours of the specific
reading room or center you plan to visit.

Public tours are offered at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. and 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30 p.m. Monday - Friday in the Great Hall of the Thomas Jefferson Building. Saturday public tours are offered at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 and 2:30 p.m.

* All Library of Congress buildings are closed to the public on Sundays and Federal Holidays

    Requesting Closed-Stack Materials
    For delivery of materials from closed stack collections, requests typically must be made at least one hour, and sometimes two hours, before the reading rooms close. Details are available in the reading rooms and on their home pages.

    Reference Collections
    Each reading room also has a reference collection that is openly available during reading room hours.
