This pathfinder provides links to resources relating to education in South Korea.

Extensive lists of colleges and universities are available through Braintrack. General Education Online Republic also links to more than 100 colleges and universities in South Korea.

The Education Resources Information Center (ERIC), sponsored by the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) of the U.S. Department of Education, produces the ERIC database, which contains more than 1.2 million citations going back to 1966. More than 110,000 full-text non-journal documents (issued 1993-2004), previously available through fee-based services only, are now available for free.

Another site that one should note is the site prepared by the Committee on Korean Materials (CKM) of the Council on East Asian Libraries (CEAL). CKM is updating the Korean subject guides on the CEAL home page.

The Academy of Korean Studies was established by the Korean government in 1978 as a unique academic institute fully dedicated to the research on Korea. Brain Korea 21 (http://www.bk21.or.kr/)
National grant project sponsored by the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development and the Korea Research Foundation to foster excellent human resources by restructuring graduate education. Its main goal is to develop world class graduate schools in every academic field by selecting exaemplary departments from all graduate schools in the nation and supporting their academic programs. The Association for Korean Studies in Europe (http://www.akse.uni-kiel.de/)
Founded in 1977, AKSE is the main scholarly society for Korean studies in greater Europe. Its objectives are to stimulate and co-ordinate academic Korean studies in all countries of Europe, and to contribute to the spread of knowledge of Korea among a wider public.

Center for Korean Studies, UC Berkeley (CKS). (http://ieas.berkeley.edu/cks/)
CKS  is a unit of the Institute of East Asian Studies, within International and Area Studies at UC Berkeley. It is an academic center for the study of Korean humanities and social sciences that seeks to use the academic resources of the University of California to promote international cultural, economic, and political understanding. Includes links to courses, events, library, publications, and related resources.

Columbia University. Center for Korean Research (CKR) (http://www.columbia.edu/cu/ckr/)
Established within Columbia University's East Asian Institute in 1988. The Center has sponsored visiting scholars and research associates as well as cultural events such as movies and concerts, monthly Contemporary Korean Affairs Seminars, and noon lecture series on Korea-related topics. The Korea Institute is Harvard University's only non-departmental entity for the support and development of Korean Studies at Harvard. Originally established in 1975 as part of the Fairbank Center for East Asian Research, it became a completely autonomous organization in 1993. NDL seeks to improve national competitiveness in the knowledge-information society of the 21st century by providing needed information for the general public as well as to researchers through online enhancement and development of the sharing system in national information resources. Provides links to the various participating national libraries: the National Library of Korea, the National Assembly Library of Korea, Supreme Court Library, KAIST, KISTI, and KERIS.
