Descriptions of Albanian Collections outside Albania

Albanian Collections at the British Library (http://www.bl.uk/collections/easteuropean/albanian.html)
The British Library Slavonic and East European Section acquires material across the spectrum of the humanities and social sciences. It is responsible for obtaining and making available material published in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, and for material in the languages of those countries published anywhere in the world. This page provides an overview of the Albanian Collections, illustrated by specific examples.

Albanian Collections at the Library of Congress (http://www.loc.gov/rr/european/coll/alba.html)
The Library of Congress has more than 13,500 volumes of monographs, annuals, and bound periodicals from or about Albania, covering nearly all disciplines. Most of the materials were published from 1950 to the present. Special collections contain additional materials, such as rare books, maps, music scores, sound recordings, motion pictures, microfilm, manuscripts, and newspapers.

Immigration History Research Center (http://ihrc.umn.edu/research/periodicals/albanian.html)
The IHRC, affiliated with the University of Minnesota, possesses several retrospective Albanian-American newspapers and serials, as well as monographs and other materials.

Electronic Libraries

The Online Books Page (http://onlinebooks.library.upenn.edu/)
OPB links to more than 20,000 freely available e-books. The site is hosted by the University of Pennsylvania Library and is created by a University of Pennsylvania researcher, who welcomes information about additional online books. The site links to at least two books about Albania: The Library of Congress's Albania: A Country Study (1994); and M. Edith Durham's High Albania (London, 1909).

Archives

Archival Research Catalog (http://www.archives.gov/research/arc/index.html)
The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration has recorded only selected materials in its catalog. It does contain, however, more than 100 references to Albania.

National Union Catalog of Manuscript Collections (http://www.loc.gov/coll/nucmc/)
The NUCMC website, maintained by the Library of Congress, informs about its program and links to the Archival and Mixed Collections of the RLG Union Catalog and to OCLC MSS Records. Both the RLG and OCLC mss catalogs include records pertaining to Albania. Each of these two mss union catalogs contains records not found in the other.
