FOOD AND AGRICULTURE ORGANIZATION (FAO) OF THE UNITED NATIONS (http://www.fao.org)
Presents the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations (UN), based in Rome, Italy. Notes that the international organization is devoted to raising levels of nutrition and standards of living, improving agricultural productivity, and bettering the conditions of rural populations. Provides access to various statistical databases compiled by the FAO, including agricultural production indices, international trade statistics, and commodity balances. Offers access to FAO reports on agriculture, economics, fisheries, forestry, nutrition, and sustainable development. Discusses FAO partnership programs and includes a calendar of conferences, summits, and related events. Contains a site search engine, news items, a photo file, job listings, and information on FAO publications. Links to regional offices and French, Arabic, and Spanish versions of site information.

Covers the monthly farm trade balance, U.S. farm imports and exports by quantity and value, and leading exports and exporters.

LATIN AMERICAN NETWORK INFORMATION CENTER (LANIC): AGRICULTURE (http://lanic.utexas.edu/la/region/agriculture/)
Presents a collection of Web sites related to the agriculture of Latin America, provided through the online Latin American Network Information Center (LANIC). Explains that LANIC, managed by the Institute of Latin American Studies (ILAS) at the University of Texas at Austin, provides Latin American and other users with access to academic databases and information services, along with access to information on and from Latin America. Contains Web sites related to agriculture in Latin America and the countries of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay, and other Latin American countries. Links to Web sites related to international agriculture. Notes that many of the Web sites are written in Spanish.

This full-text monthly report provides the most current USDA forecasts of U.S. and world supply-use balances of major grains, soybeans and products, and cotton; and U.S. supply and use of sugar and livestock products.
