The most important source for bibliography of books and articles concerning Cuba is the annual Handbook of Latin American Studies (http://lcweb2.loc.gov/hlas/) produced by over 160 contributing editors under the editorship of the Hispanic Division of the Library of Congress. Additional coverage of journal articles can be found through a subscription to the Hispanic American Periodical Index (http://hapi.gseis.ucla.edu/). Both the Handbook and HAPI are available in selected libraries in book form.

One of the major aggregators for links to a wide variety of subjects relating to regional resources for Latin America is the University of Texas' LANIC (http://lanic.utexas.edu/la/cb/cuba/) database. Another site one should especially note is the site prepared by the Law Library of the Library of Congress for international and multinational information on their Guide to Law Online (http://www.loc.gov/law/guide/cuba.html).

Website presents information about African culture in Cuba, including resources on music, dance, festivals, events, authors, teachers, theater, film, conferences, local news and organizations. In English.

CUBA Project (http://www.soc.qc.edu/procuba/)
The Cuba Project began operation in 1996 and has as a goal to study the social, political and economic changing conditions in Cuba and initiate dialogue and debate through its research and findings. The site offers information about seminars and symposia, meetings of the Cuba Project and other Cuban related events. In English.

Website established by winners of the 1998 ThinkQuest contest: an online program that challenges students, educators at all levels to develop educational Web sites for curriculum and staff development. The site provides links to hundreds of pages of information about Cuba including; culture, current events, history, people, places, politics, and travel. The site is also interactive and includes discussion forums, virtual tours, a voting booth, and trivia contests. In addition, there is a search engine.

Website provided by the Canadian Foundation for the Americas' (FOCAL) Internet directory of the most relevant and useful information on Cuba available on the web. Contains links to general information, program description, news sources, web sources and documents, organizations, calendar of events, bibliographical references, FOCAL background briefings, and contact information. In English and Spanish.

Cubaweb (http://www.cubaweb.cu)
Website established by the Cubanacán Group, a tourism and commercial organization that receives 40% of Cuba's international tourism. Site provides extensive information about tourism, culture, and national news. Also includes links to information for women, children, events and conventions, cigars, humor, and music, among others. In English and Spanish.

Network Startup Resource Center - Cuba (http://www.nsrc.org/db/lookup/ISO=CU)
Website established by The Network Startup Resource Center (NSRC), a non-profit organization involved the deployment and integration of appropriate networking technology in various projects throughout the world including Cuba. The organization provides pro bono technical and engineering assistance to international networking initiatives providing access to the public Internet, especially to academic/research organizations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Site provides links to information about connectivity providers, reports on networking infrastructure in Cuba, web links concerning ISPs and networking in Cuba, general web links to information about Cuba, and miscellaneous information on networking in Cuba.
