Winifred Hamrick Farrar

Position History:
First laureate was Maude Willard Leet Prenshaw, appointed by Gov. Ross Barnett in 1963. Appointment is now by the legislature. The official length of appointment is lifetime, though in 1973 Louise Moss Montgomery was named laureate by Gov. William Waller while Ms. Prenshaw was still alive.
