This web site provides a guide to Civil War resources under the management of the National Park Service by promoting the National Park Service heritage sites. There are links to a state-by-state listing of Civil War battlefields, national parks, and cemeteries, as well as several searchable databases such as The Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System for records of Union and Confederate soldiers and units. Another database provides medal citations for recipients of the Medal of Honor, and there are searchable records of several Union and Confederate prisons.

Primarily, the documents are from libraries at the university, and many of them relate to the Civil War.

This online archive "is a library of key works on Civil War strategy, tactics and drill used by the Regular Army, Volunteers, and at the United States Military Academy at West Point." It includes 19th-century military manuals on infantry, artillery, and cavalry tactics, books on army regulations, customs, military administration, unit histories, etc. In addition to the Civil War, there are some manuals for the War of 1812 and the Mexican War.
