The papers of Edwin Arlington Robinson, poet, were given to the Library of
Congress by Gertrude Clarke Whittall in 1949. Additional material was
received through transfer and purchase, 1943-1990.
Processing History:
The papers of Edwin Arlington Robinson were arranged and described in 1981.
Additional material was incorporated into the collection in 2000.

Scope and Content Note
The papers of Edwin Arlington Robinson (1869-1935) span the years 1913-1940
and consist of correspondence and holograph poems, including "Amaranth,"
"Lancelot and Guinevere," "The Master," "Old King Cole," "Talifer," and
"Tristram." Many of the poems represented here appeared in Robinson's Man
Against the Sky: A Book of Poems (1916). Also included are nine letters by
Robinson, 1924-1932, and one letter about him. The collection was
originally assembled by Robinson's fellow poet and friend Louis Ledoux.
Additional Robinson correspondence and typescript poems can be found in the
Division's Kermit and Belle Roosevelt Papers. Other significant collections
of Robinson material can be found at the Houghton Library, Harvard
University, Cambridge, Massacusetts; the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript
Library, Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut; and the New York Public
Library, New York, New York.
