Note: Judging from the issue of July 11, 1799, vol. 1,
no. 2, the first issue was that of July 4, 1799; however, according
to Gabriel Furnam in his Notes, geographical and historical relating
to the town of Brooklyn of Long Island, page 94, the date of
establishment was June 26, 1799. Continued by The Courier, and
New-Yor and Long Island advertiser, starting with the issue
of Aug. 1, 1799.
