  The Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO) is a cooperative program established in 1988 to monitor Alaskan volcanoes, primarily those in the Cook Inlet Region. Agencies contributing are the U.S. Geological Survey, the University of Alaska Fairbanks Geophysical Institute, and the Alaska Division of Geological and Geophysical Surveys.
