Publication and other forms of distribution: There are no known restrictions on photographs taken by Frances Benjamin Johnston. There were no restrictions placed on items Johnston gave as gifts to the Library of Congress before her death or when the Library purchased the majority of her estate after her death. The Johnston collection does include images and other materials made by other people. Rights to those items must be evaluated individually for potential copyright restrictions.

Access: Subject to P&P policy on serving originals.

Reproduction (photocopying, hand-held camera copying, photoduplication, digital downloads and other forms of copying allowed by "fair use"): Subject to P&P policy on copying, which prohibits photocopying original photographs.
