National Park Service (NPS)

The fundamental purpose of the NPS is to conserve the scenery and the natural and historic objects and the wild life therein and to provide for the enjoyment of the same in such manner and by such means as will leave them unimpaired for the enjoyment of future generations.  The NPS provides highlights, statistics, and a list of national parks for Puerto Rico. The encyclopedia is organized into 22 subject areas structured in 15 sections, which include essays and articles by academics, researchers, and subject-matter experts. Each area includes a general overview and an increasing number of specialized articles of an expository and descriptive nature.
